Conference and action updates from VPON

Wearing my other hat here: Although the VPON Newsletter has scaled back to become a quarterly, the urge to share information occasionally arises. In that spirit, here are two Vermont events this month that may be of interest, as well as a link to presentations on renewable and alternative energy (emerging out of the recent NE Renewable Energy Conference at Penn State) and a link to an action opportunity on the Obama Transition Team website.
VISIBLE HANDS: A Day at the Circus

Who can resist the circus? Especially when it’s billed as “a potpourri of radical music, art, theater, circus, conversation, politics, and community aimed at fomenting a Genteel Revolution against the Empire.” The icing on the cake? The circus (a.k.a., Second Vermont Republic Convention) was being held at the State House. So Vermont. I simply had to go.

My sister wrote me shortly after the London (er, make that “Wall Street”) Bridge started tumbling down. We hadn’t spoken about anything other than family concerns in awhile (and heaven knows there were plenty of those to talk about); she’s been a little shy of me since I began trying to explain the concept and consequences of Peak Oil to family members. She finally did take the leap and drop me a line:
